Qazvin Islamic Azad University (QIAU) (Persian: دانشگاه آزاد اسلامی قزوین‎) is a private research university based in Qazvin, Iran. It is one of the largest and most reputable branches of the Islamic Azad University. Sometimes, QIAU is referred by other phrases: Islamic Azad University of Qazvin or Islamic Azad University, Ghazvin branch.

History

Qazvin Islamic Azad University was founded in 1992. The University now has about 30 thousand students in 81 programs and gives out degrees at the Associate Degree, Bachelor, Master discontinuous, Masters and PhD level. Today, QIAU is one of the best private universities in the country with high quality of education and researches. The university is well known for its Robocup MRL team.

Qazvin Islamic Azad University(QIAU) follows an industry-oriented mission of which education, research, and training are the main components. QIAU was established with the aim of producing and developing knowledge in society as well as educating the experts and specialists dedicated to Islamic, ethical virtues.

QIAU offers four academic degree programs : associate degree, B.A/B.Sc, MSc, and PhD, all of which offer the skills, knowledge and the techniques students need. Considering the vast economical, cultural, technological, and social developments, QIAU is committed to meeting the emerging educational and research needs through designing and developing educational courses and multiple services, drawing on modern technology and state of the art education systems as well as through collaboration with international universities. Striving to educate the professional experts as well as taking advantage of country’s prominent professors, QIAU has made enormous progress. This has opened many opportunities for alumni recruitment in scientific institutions and industrial companies, serving as senior managers and experts.

Obviously, encouraging students to undertake higher levels of education to meet academic, executive, and educational needs counts as an indicator of improved educational process. To this end, many students of QIAU have been admitted at graduate programs and accredited international universities, such as Canada, England, Sweden, and U.S.A. QIAU which offers various industrial courses aims to achieve a supreme status in knowledge production, to offer innovative research proposals, and to pave the way for making constructive changes. To this end, the university has given priority to creating research centers .The main research centers include advanced Mechatronic Research Lab, advanced Construction & Concrete Lab, and Middle East Management Institute, all of them are used by professors and students to carry out research and to build innovative knowledge . QIAU is planning to establish a technology park with the aim of promoting innovation and competitiveness. This park, to be opened in the near future, will host the entrepreneurs and talented students of the country.

As its next mission, QIAU is striving to become an international university .It is now collaborating with some accredited universities in the areas of research and education.

Biomedical Engineering, Electrical, IT & Computer Sciences School

The faculty offered BSc in Computer Engineering (Software, Hardware), Electrical Engineering (Electronics, Control), and Information Technology, and Associate Diploma in discontinuous computing during the years 1993, 96, 97, 98 to 2003. Other fields of study in discontinuous BSc in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) were added to the faculty programme during 1999 to 2003. The education office of graduate studies commenced its activities in the faculty in 2003, with four fields of study in faculty of Electrical, Computer, and IT Engineering Moreover, the number of alumni in Computer Engineering (software) is 5 and number of received thesis is 60. Due to increasing number of students and the increasing demand for education space, this faculty has been transferred from its former place, the faculty of Associate Diploma in Navab, to its new building in Shahid Abbaspur Campus.

The Faculty present status: The present faculty space is 9682 square meters, including 37 classes, 6 classes equipped with audio-visual equipments, and 15 classes equipped with laboratory & workshop equipments for computer & electronic laboratories & workshops. Currently, 3882 students are enrolled in the faculty. Professor’s Numbers:

There are 33 academic staff in the faculty, as well as 42 guest lecturers. The above numbers are related to technical courses. Moreover, there are 8 academic staff and 6 guest lecturers in the departments of mechatronics, Computer Engineering (software, artificial intelligence), and IT engineering.More information

Mechatronics Research Laboratory (MRL)

Mechatronics Research Laboratory was established in 2003 as an independent research centre under supervision of Qazvin Islamic Azad University. One of its activities is participating RoboCup international competition.

Student life

IranOpen

IranOpen is a place for teams willing to take part in RoboCup World Competitions in order to show their qualities and standards. It is also a place for fresh teams to gain experience and become ready to join the world class teams.

Iranian teams have been an active participant of RoboCup events since 1998. The number of Iranian teams has been largely increasing over the past years. Thereby, the need to have a regional event seemed rather necessary. Furthermore, since the overall number of world interested teams in RoboCup has increased; regional events may and can be a proper field for RoboCup leagues Technical Committees to observe teams qualities for RoboCup World Competitions qualifications. IranOpen is a place for teams willing to take part in RoboCup World Competitions in order to show their qualities and standards. It is also a place for fresh teams to gain experience and become ready to join the world class teams.IranOpen
