The Qatar national ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Qatar, and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

History

The sport is mostly not popular in Qatar is ice hockey, until the first edition of Qatar Ice Hockey Championship with participation of 4 team to include Qatari, Canadian and English players organised by the Sports Affairs Department of Qatar Olympic Committee.[1] Qatar team will participate at the Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan. They have 2 ice rinks (Gondolania Ice Arena and City Centre Mall) and there is a 2 division hockey league there. The 6 teams for 2009-10 were the RasGas, Sandvipers, Qatar Qanucks, European Fitness Club, Sundogs, and CNAQ Breakers.

On May 18, 2012, they were added as official members by the IIHF.[2] Qatar played its first game against Oman, which they lost 2-1. In 2014, Qatar participated in the Gulf Ice Hockey Championship. They played five games which they lose four and win one, winning the bronze medal against Oman 7-2.
