Qaisumah Domestic Airport[3] (Arabic: مطار القيصومة المحلي, IATA: AQI[4], ICAO: OEPA) is an airport serving Qaisumah (also spelled Al Qaysumah), a village in the city of Hafar Al-Batin in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia.
The airport began in 1962 as a dusty runway for a Dakota aircraft which was used at that time for transporting Saudi Aramco employees between stations in the northern region. Today, the airport has a 3000 metres runway capable of handling Boeing 737, a total of 11 million square metre area, a passenger terminal, a sewage system and a water treatment and stand-by power plant.[3]
Facilities
The airport resides at an elevation of 1,174 feet (358 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 16/34 with an asphalt surface measuring 3,000 by 45 metres (9,843 ft × 148 ft).[1]
