PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games
The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) is an organization that oversees the planning and development of the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
POCOG's offices are currently located in Seoul and PyeongChang, with plan to merge two offices in PyeongChang in near future.
Leadership
POCOG is currently headed by President Cho Yang-ho, Chairman of Hanjin Group.[1] President Cho has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Olympic movement and was active in PyeongChang's bid for the Olympic Winter Games. Cho was preceded by Kim Jin-sun, former Governor of the Gangwon Province, who served as Special Ambassador for the Olympic Bid.
Organizational Structure
POCOG comprises Advisory Committee, whose members include the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Assembly, IOC Member Kun-Hee Lee, Chairman of the Federation of the Korean Industries, six Vice Chairmen, Executive Board, and Advisory Group. The Secretariat consists of Secretary General, two Deputy Secretaries General, Six Bureaus, 13 Departments, one Auditor, one Spokesperson, and 29 Teams. The structure is projected to expand leading up to the Games.
