Pusuke (April 1, 1985 December 5, 2011), a Shiba Inu breed dog from Japan, was thought to be the world's oldest dog from December 2010 until his death in December 2011, according to the Guinness World Records.[1] As of 2011, he was the tenth oldest dog ever recorded. However, a dog from the United States, Max, was later determined to be older. [2][3]

According to his owner, Pusuke had been active, healthy and fit up until the day he died, when he suddenly lost his appetite and experienced difficulty breathing. He died a few hours later, at the age of 26 years.[1]
