Pune – Secunderabad Shatabdi[1] is a train operated by the Central Railway which is running between Pune Junction in Maharashtra and Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The train commenced service on 13 November 2011. The train runs at an average speed of 70.58 km/h and is the fastest diesel hauled shatabdi train on IR and also the fastest train connecting these two cities. The train travels from Pune Junction to Secunderabad in 8 hours and 30 mins as 12025 Shatabdi Express (70.23 km/hr) & 8 hours 25 mins as 12026 Shatabdi Express (70.93), faster than the conventional trains which take 10.5 - 14.5 hours to complete the same task.

It leaves Pune Junction at 0550 hrs reaching Secunderabad Junction at 1420 hrs as 12025 Pune Shatabdi Express. When operating as 12026 Pune Shatabdi Express, it leaves Secunderabad Junction at 1445 hrs arriving Pune at 2310 hrs.

Coach Composition

The train uses old coaches from the 12007/08 Mysore Shatabdi Express. It generally carries 1 AC Executive class coach & 9 AC Chair Car coaches in addition to 2 EOG cars. Unlike most Shatabdi's it does not have a pantry car & picks up refreshments & meals from intermediate stops. Like most trains, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways.

Starting on Jul 30, 2014, a brand new LHB rake has been allotted to Pune Secunderabad Shatabdi Express . It has 8 AC Chair Cars and 1 AC Executive Chair car along with 2 EOG cars.

Locomotion

It is regularly hauled by a WDM 3A engine from the Pune shed although WDG's have also hauled the train. Wadi Junction when it is operating as 12026 Shatabdi Express also serves as a refueling halt.
