Pujali is a town and a municipality under Budge Budge police station of Alipore sadar subdivision in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.[1] It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.[2]

Geography

Pujali is located at 22°28′N 88°09′E / 22.47°N 88.15°E.[3] It has an average elevation of 6 metres (19 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[4] Pujali had a population of 33,863. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Pujali has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 55%. In Pujali, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Civic administration

There is a Pujali municipality. Currently,the Indian National Congress is in power in it.
