Priya Anjali Rai (born December 25, 1977), also known as Priya Rai, is an Indian-American former pornographic actress.[1][2]

Career

Rai worked as a fashion and swimwear model prior to working in the adult industry.[3] Rai was a stripper for 12 years prior to appearing in pornographic films.[3] She entered the adult film industry in 2007[1] at the age of 29.[4]

In June 2013, she announced her retirement from adult films to focus on her mainstream career and personal life.[2]

Rai is reportedly debuting in Bollywood with an independent film project at hand.[5] She played the lead role of "Isis" in the mainstream horror film Isis Rising: Curse Of The Lady Mummy.[6]

Recognition

Lifestyle magazine Complex placed her at #19 in their list of "The Top 100 Hottest Porn Stars Right Now"[7] and at #32 in their list of "The 50 Prettiest Porn Stars of All Time".[8]

Advocacy

She has expressed her opposition towards Measure B, a law requiring pornographic actors to wear condoms during all sex scenes filmed in Los Angeles.[9]

Personal life

Rai was born in New Delhi, India and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. at the age of two after being adopted by American parents.[22] She attended Arizona State University and studied marketing.[22] She resides in Phoenix, Arizona.[22] She stated that Hindus are tolerant of her profession, but that she gets negative feedback from Muslims.[23]

In June 2013, Rai announced that she was engaged to "a very successful businessman" who does not work in the adult industry.[2]
