Prisoners of the Sun is a film directed by Roger Christian starring John Rhys-Davies, David Charvet, Carmen Chaplin, Emily Holmes, Nick Moran, Joss Ackland, Michael Higgs and Gulshan Grover.

Plot

A young archaeological apprentice played by David Charvet is drawn into a perilous expedition deep beneath the timeless sands of Egypt. They encounter ancient monsters and escape death traps. Through the expedition they discover a secret older than time and a danger beyond imagination. The "sleepers" have awoken. The gods have arisen. And the countdown to the end of the world has begun.

Production and release

The movie was shot in 2006 and completed in 2007, but was not publicly released to theaters. It was released December 2013 on DVD and Blu-ray in Thailand and France, in January 2014 in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, and July 2014 in the U.S.
