Princess Maria Alix Luitpolda Anna Henriette Germana Agnes Damiana Michaela of Saxony, Duchess of Saxony (Full German name: Prinzessin Maria Alix Luitpolda Anna Henriette Germana Agnes Damiana Michaela von Sachsen, Herzogin zu Sachsen[1][2]) (27 September 1901 in Wachwitz, Dresden, Saxony[1][2] – 11 December 1990 in Hechingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany[1][2]) was the sixth child and third-eldest daughter of Frederick Augustus III of Saxony and his wife Archduchess Luise of Austria, Princess of Tuscany and a younger sister of Georg, Crown Prince of Saxony and Friedrich Christian, Margrave of Meissen.[1][2] Through her marriage to Franz Joseph, Prince of Hohenzollern-Emden, Maria Alix was a member of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen.
Marriage and issue
Maria Alix married Franz Joseph, Prince of Hohenzollern-Emden, son of William, Prince of Hohenzollern and his wife Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, on 25 May 1921 at Schloss Sibyllenort in Sibyllenort, Silesia, Germany.[1][2] Maria Alix and Franz Joseph had four children:[1][2]
- Karl Anton Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Maria Georg Manuel Rupprecht Heinrich Benedikt Tassilo Prinz von Hohenzollern-Emden; born on 28 January 1922 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany; died on 3 November 1993 in Hechingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; married in Rome, Italy on 15 August 1951 to Alexandra Afif (16 November 1919 - 26 June 1996)[1][2]
- Meinrad Leopold Maria Friedrich Christian Ferdinand Albert Prinz von Hohenzollern-Emden; born on 17 January 1925 in Sigmaringen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; married (civil) in Frankfurt, Germany on 25 August 1971 and (religious) in Sigmaringen on 11 September 1971 to Edina Freijn von Kap-Herr (born 23 August 1938)[1][2]
