Prince Waldemar of Schaumburg-Lippe
Prince Waldemar Stephen of Schaumburg-Lippe (Waldemar Stephan Ferdinand Wolrad Friedrich Karl, b. 19 December 1940 in Glienicke) is a son of Prince Christian of Schaumburg-Lippe and Princess Feodora of Denmark, and the great-grandson of King Frederick VIII of Denmark.
Family and life
His first marriage was to Anne-Lise Johansen, on 10 September 1977, Queen Margrethe's court photographer, although they subsequently divorced. They had one child:
- Princess Eleonore-Christine Eugenie Benita Feodora Maria of Schaumburg-Lippe (born 22 December 1978 at Hørsholm, Denmark)
His second marriage was with Karin Grundmann in 2001, whom he subsequently divorced in 2002. And in 2002 he married thirdly Ruth Schneidewind, whom he divorced in 2003.
Prince Waldemar's fourth marriage was with Gertraud-Antonia Wagner-Schöppl on 20 September 2008 in Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna. He adopted the adult son of his wife:
- Mario Max Prince Antonius Adolf Albert Isidor Eduard Oliver Gertraud Manuela Edith Helga Magdalena Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe[1] (born as Mario-Helmut Wagner; 23 December 1977 at Salzburg, Austria, German Citizen). He appeared on the Dutch television programme Coming to Holland: Prins zoekt vrouw in 2010, presumably in search of a Dutch wife. Subsequently, he appeared on the similar US television show Millionaire Matchmaker in 2011.
Although related to the Danish Royal Family, under Danish law, Waldemar is not in line to inherit the throne as he is not a descendant of Christian X. He is, however, currently number 1449 in line of succession to the British throne, being descended from George II of the United Kingdom, through his daughter Queen Louisa of Denmark and Norway.[2]
Titles and styles
Waldemar claims [3] the title of "Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe-Nachod" and the style "His Highness".[4] However, Fürst is a German title used for the head of a princely family or nom de plume. The Nachod branch of the Schaumburg-Lippe family is the (Cadet branch) of the Schaumburg-Lippe family and declared lawfull a sovereign and independent house in its own right.[5] so Waldemar's claimed title of "Fürst" is therefor generally lawfull for any german citizen, which was stated in the previous name claim of another Schaumburg-Lippe named german citizen.[6] Waldemar is second-born son of the Nachod branch; and there is no legal head of any family under german law, stated by the current german constitution that all german citizens are equal, no matter born before or after their brothers or sisters.[7]
Since the state laws concerning German nobiliary titles disallow the use of terms such as "Fürst" or "His Highness" as legal titles, such terms can now only be used unofficially as honorifics, or in some circumstances such words may be incorporated into legal names, such as the non-noble regular german citizen Alexander Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe, who calls himself as well "Fürst" nom de plume. In around in 2010, Prince Waldemar applied for the phrase "Seine Hoheit Fürst Waldemar" (His Highness Fürst Waldemar) as his official nom de plume for use in his personal documents;[8] he publishes under this name, which according to German law fullfils the legal requirement for such an entry.[9] Consequently, under German law, he can legally portray or present himself as "Fürst" or "His Highness" like any other family member of the Schaumburg-Lippe can. Under his Website Waldemar Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe published a public alert, that he warns from either money or personally driven abusive campaign authors at Wikipedia who spread missleading information, like connecting content to non related von Anhalt named personalities or giving the german citizen Alexander Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe an elevating marketing plattform in wikipedia while slamming Prince Waldemar by questioning him, instead of understanding that he is the one having one thousand years of true royal ancestry in his lineage.[10] Also same named german citizens may not stretch any historic interpretation towards spreading or posting mallicous articles and granting one person more privileges towards any pseudonym then any other, against the current german constitution.[11]
