Prince Rupert Secondary was a public high school in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Prince Rupert Secondary was a part of School District 52 Prince Rupert. The school's mission statement was "Prince Rupert Secondary School, in an atmosphere of mutual respect, unity, trust and cooperation, strives to provide each individual needs, and achieve their full potential. We endeavor to promote the ideals of life-long learning, responsibility to self and responsibility to the global community."
Transition To Middle School
On December 9, 2009 at a regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Board of Education of School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert) made a number of decisions which would lead to a new district configuration of schools effective September 2011.
“We are very pleased to announce that our district will be implementing a middle school for our grade 6, 7 and 8 students for the fall of 2011”, reports Chair Tina Last. “This middle school will support our adolescent learners during this critical time when they are forming attitudes, values, and habits of minds. The middle school will build a transitional bridge from elementary to high school.”
This middle school is called Prince Rupert Middle School (PRMS) and all the older students who were attending Prince Rupert Secondary School at time of transition moved to Charles Hays Secondary School in September 2011.
