The President of the Congress of Deputies (Spanish: Presidente del Congreso de los Diputados) is the presiding officer of the Congress of Deputies, the lower house of Spain's Cortes Generales. The office was established in 1978 by Article 72, Section 2 of the Spanish Constitution, which states in part, "The Houses shall choose their respective Presidents...".
The current president, of the X Legislature, is Jesús Posada, a member of the People's Party who represents the electoral district of Soria.
