PreEmptive Solutions is a Cleveland-based software company founded in 1996 by Gabriel Torok, Paul Tyma, and William Leach. It specializes in application protection and application analytics solutions for the .NET and Java platforms. Software producers (ISVs, enterprise developers and hardware vendors who include software in their solution) use PreEmptive Solutions to protect the intellectual property (IP) in their applications, prevent application vulnerability exploitation as well as report on application usage and performance metrics.
History
PreEmptive was founded in 1996.
In 1998, PreEmptive released DashO for Java application protection and optimization (the name DashO comes from the compiler optimization flag "-o")
In 2002, PreEmptive released Dotfuscator for .NET application protection and optimization.
In 2003, Microsoft first includes a lite version of Dotfuscator in Visual Studio.[1]
In 2008, PreEmptive expanded DashO and Dotfuscator to include Runtime Intelligence giving software producers an easy way to monitor and measure applications.
In October 2008, Microsoft and PreEmptive announced that Visual Studio 2010 will include an updated version of Dotfuscator with Runtime Intelligence.
In November 2010, PreEmptive and Microsoft Announce Runtime Intelligence Analytics and Code Obfuscation for Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone Marketplace. [2]
In April 2012, PreEmptive released PreEmptive Analytics for Team Foundation Server which monitors and analyzes production exceptions and, using extensible rules, automatically creates work items inside Microsoft Team Foundation Server; closing the loop between development and operations.
In September 2012, PreEmptive Solutions and Microsoft Partner to Provide Exception Analytics in Visual Studio 2012 and Team Foundation Server 2012. [3]
In May 2014, PreEmptive Solutions announced the production release of PreEmptive Analytics Workbench™, an application analytics platform measuring application adoption, feature usage, user preferences, and exceptions.
Today, PreEmptive has over 4,000 corporate clients in over 100 countries.
Product offerings
PreEmptive Solutions produces DashO, Dotfuscator and PreEmptive Analytics. These tools help protect intellectual property, decrease vulnerability probing, detect and report tampering, and monitor application usage. In addition, a lite version of PreEmptives' Dotfuscator and Analytics for Team Foundation Server product ships by default inside Microsoft's Visual Studio.
