Pravegeya

Pravegaya is an upcoming Sinhala language Sri Lankan film which will star Hemal Ranasinghe and Udari Ranasinghe will cast the movie. Music for the film is done by the popular Sri Lankan duo Bathiya and Santhush. The film will be directed by an Indian filmmaker. This is the only film in Sri Lanka, which have paid a very huge budegt to an actress, and it was Jacqueline Fernandez, but it was just a cameo role given, though crew wanted to promote the role in a unique way and use as a promotional purpose.

Background

Pravegeya is a remake of the Indian Tamil language film Polladhavan which starred Dhanush and Divya Spandana in its lead roles.^[1] This film be the most expensive and the biggest budgeted film ever done in Sri Lanka. Film maker Sadesh Kumar locked actress and model Jacqueline Fernandez into a lead role in September 2011 for Rs.8 million and it was the highest budget ever been paid to an actress in Sri Lanka, but production met initial difficulties when Fernandez failed to appear on her initial shooting date. Filming will take place in Sri Lanka at locations including Colombo, Nuwara Eliya and Galle.^[1] The fil's release date has not yet been announced.^[2]
