The Porbandar railway station belongs to Western Railway of Bhavnagar Division.
Geography
Porbandar Railway Station was one of the western most Broad gauge Railway station in India. It serves the port of Porbandar. There were trains to different destinations in India like Mumbai, Howrah, Secunderabad, Delhi, Santragachi, Kochuveli.
History
Porbandar railway station was owned by Porbandar State Railway during the Princely rule. Porbandar-JamJodhpur metre gauge railway line was opened in 1888[1] by working with Bhavnagar-Gondal-Junagad-Porbandar Railway. Later it was merged into Saurashtra Railway in 1948.[2] Further it is under taken by Western Railway on November 5,1951.[3] Gauge conversion of Wansajaliya-Jetalsar section completed in 2011 giving connectivity to Somnath.
