Poplar River Township is a township in Red Lake County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 125 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.9 square miles (90.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 125 people, 48 households, and 39 families residing in the township. The population density was 3.6 people per square mile (1.4/km²). There were 55 housing units at an average density of 1.6/sq mi (0.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 100.00% White.

There were 48 households out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.0% were married couples living together, 2.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.7% were non-families. 14.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.90.

In the township the population was spread out with 18.4% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 17.6% from 25 to 44, 29.6% from 45 to 64, and 26.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.5 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $36,250, and the median income for a family was $46,875. Males had a median income of $27,708 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the township was $17,900. There were 9.8% of families and 7.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including 7.4% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
