Pokhariya is a a newly made municipality in Parsa District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal.This municipality consists of Pokhariya, Sibarwa, Gobindapur, Sirsiya and Basantpur VDCs. It has a 25-bedded district hospital, a higher secondary school, 16 private and 10 government-funded schools. Likewise, this municipality is fully electrified, has an Area Police Office and offices of drinking water supply, agriculture, veterinary, Nepal Telecom, banks and other finance and cooperatives.This is the second corridor for education after Birgunj.

TRANSPORTATION. The distance between Birgunj and Pokhariya is nearly 18km. This road connects maximum number of villages of Parsa district but its condition is very poor. Till now Government have not able to improve the condition of this road by making it pitched. Buses leaves for Birgunj after every one hour and vice versa.There is also bus services to reach other VDC's and villages.
