The Pocahontas County Courthouse located in Pocahontas, Iowa was built in 1923. History

The first county seat for Pocahontas County was located at a place called Old Rolfe.[2] The courthouse there was a brick building on a stone foundation that also served as a schoolhouse. The bricks for the building were made of local clay.[2] The county seat was moved to Pocahontas in 1875. A new courthouse was built there for $2,600.[2] The present courthouse was designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Proudfoot, Bird & Rawson in the Classical Revival style.[1] The building was completed in 1923 and it was constructed of Bedford stone.
