Plaza del Sol is an 728,546-square-foot (67,684.1 m2) enclosed regional mall located in the city of Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Plaza del Sol is anchored by Bed Bath & Beyond, Caribbean Cinemas, Walmart, and Home Depot. The mall was opened in 1998, and was acquired by Developers Diversified Realty Corporation (DDR) in 2005.
Some of the mall tenants includes Aldo, Ann Taylor Loft, Bakers, American Eagle, Champs Sports, The Children's Place, Victoria's Secret, Foot Locker, Gap, La Gran Via, Hot Topic, Journeys, Kress/Kress Kids, Aeropostale, Marianne, PacSun, SGH, Tous Jewelers, Van Heusen, Zales Jewelers, among others.[1] Before its 2012 redevelopment the mall had a Space-oriented theme including a Solar System themed food court.
Redevelopment
In 2012, the mall added 35,500 sq ft (3,300 m2), moving the food court upstairs and reusing the space below for new tenants.[2] Phase two of Plaza del Sol’s redevelopment will include more parking spaces and the construction of approximately 137,000 square feet of new GLA to accommodate the expansion of a key anchor as well as construction of additional junior anchor boxes with an expected completion in the fall of 2016.
