The Hotel Plaza Athénée is a historic luxury hotel in Paris, France. It is located at 25 Avenue Montaigne, near the Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower. It is part of the Dorchester Collection group of international luxury hotels.

Hôtel Plaza Athénée opened its doors on avenue Montaigne on April 20, 1913.[1]

There are several restaurants in the building. In 2000, Alain Ducasse chose the Athénée for his haute cuisine restaurant. It serves dinner on weeknights and lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. Other eateries include the Relais Plaza (classical French cuisine), La Cour Jardin (Riviera-style cooking), La Galerie des Gobelins (breakfast, light lunch, tea and pastries) and Le Bar du Plaza, a popular night spot.

Other amenities include a sauna and steam room. In 2008, the Dior Institut was opened at the hotel and is run by Dior staff.

Famous chefs to have worked there before Ducasse include Jacques Pépin.

The hotel was featured in the final season of HBO's Sex and the City and in the motion picture The Smurfs 2. It was also the setting for the British-French film Le Week-End.

It may be considered as the "most musical luxury hotel" in Paris.[2] The pianist Véronique Bonnecaze has founded the « Harmonies du Soir » series at this hotel in Paris.

The hotel was completely renovated from 2013-2014, at a cost of EUR 200 million. The main building was renovated, and three adjacent buildings were incorporated into the hotel, including the one housing the famed Harry Winston jewelers on the ground floor. The hotel reopened in August, 2014.[3]

The architect Jean-Jacques Ory was responsible for the extension of the hotel. Interior designer Bruno Moinard refreshed the lobby, La Galerie, the interior garden, the Salon Organza as well as the newly added ballroom called Salon Haute Couture. Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku refurbished Le Bar and the famous Alain Ducasse at Hotel Plaza Athénée restaurant. The now 154 refurbished rooms and 54 suites are the work of interior designer Marie-José Pommereau. Thanks to new building space added to the hotel, eight additional suites and six apartments could be created in 2013-14.[4]
