The PlayStation Camera is an optional motion sensing accessory for PlayStation 4. It includes two 1280×800 pixel cameras with lenses having an aperture of f/2.0, with 30 cm focusing distance, and an 85° field of view.[1] The dual camera setup allows for different modes of operation, depending on the target application.[2] The two cameras can be used together for depth-sensing of objects in its field of vision,[3] akin to the Xbox's Kinect peripheral.[4] Alternatively, one of the cameras can be used for generating the video image, with the other used for motion tracking.[5] It is the successor to the PlayStation Eye for the PlayStation 3, which was released in 2007.
