Plaridel is a third class municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. According to 2010 census, it has a population of 35,251 people.[3]
Plaridel became a municipality in 1907. Its original name was Langaran, after the river which drains along its shorelines. The town is accessible from Manila by air via the Dipolog Airport or Ozamiz Airport which is 68 kilometres (42 mi) away. Plaridel also has a harbor in Looc that is very well sheltered from strong winds. A passenger boat travels to Cebu City thrice a week, with stops in Siquijor and Tagbilaran, Bohol. Daily boat service to Cebu is also available in the port of Ozamiz City about 67 kilometres (42 mi) to the south.
Coconut and rice are the town's main crops. Municipal fisheries produces more than enough fish for its needs.
