Pissing Razors is an American groove metal band originally formed in 1996.
History
The band was started by brothers Danny and Eddy Garcia in the early 1990s, originally named "Back Door Cyclops". The band changed its name, inspired by a phrase coined by the original vocalist. In the late 90s, drummer Danny Garcia moved from El Paso, Texas to New York City. Eddy Garcia took this opportunity to switch from playing lead guitar to drums, while Matt Lynch then moved from bass to lead guitar. The band promptly hired Rick Valles as the new Bassist, who formerly played with Joe Rodriguez in another band. After submitting demos to numerous record labels, the band was signed to Noise Records in 1997, and released their self-titled CD the following year. In 2000, the band contributed a cover of Pantera's "Domination" to the album, "Panther: A Tribute To Pantera" from Eclipse Records.
Mat Lynch left the band after a major tour, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. The band replaced Lynch with his guitar tech, Cesar "Achmex" Soto. Soto's classical-based style contributed heavily to "Fields Of Disbelief." In 2000, singer Joe Rodriguez quit the band, due to financial issues. He was replaced by Jason "Dewey" Bragg from California, and the band released "Where We Come From" in 2001. Bragg left shortly afterwards, due to a personality conflict with the rest of the band. Jason Bragg was quickly replaced by local El Paso vocalist Andre Acosta. Andre was featured on the "Live in the Devil's Triangle" live album. The album title was the nickname given to the area where Eddie Garcia grew up, and featured the band's actual touring RV on the cover.
Cesar "Achmex" Soto abruptly quit the band in October 2002, due to financial issues with the founding members. Shortly after, Soto joined fellow former members Mat Lynch and Joe Rodriguez in the short lived band, Fueled II Fire. He was quickly replaced by Matt Difabio from Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Difabio & Acosta contributed to the 2003 "Evolution" CD. Pissing Razors quietly disbanded in 2004, following a lackluster response to "Evolution".
Pissing Razors reunited in 2014. The band continues work on a new album, tentatively scheduled for release in 2015.
