Pioneer Valley High School is the newest public high school in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District serving Santa Maria, California, in northern Santa Barbara County, California. It first opened its doors to a class of freshmen and sophomores on August 11, 2004.
Performance and curriculum
The school achieved an API index of 693 in 2009.[1] French and Spanish are taught.[2]
Notable people
- Jeff Helms, former band director at Pioneer Valley, was one of eight musicians chosen to lead the 121st Rose Bowl Parade.[3]
- Ramiro Medrano, former student band member at Pioneer Valley, was the first band member out of the Central Coast to go on tour with Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps.
Athletics
Pioneer Valley High School competes in the CIF Southern Section as a member of the Pac-7 League.
