Pinkas Synagogue

Pinkas Synagogue, west side

The Pinkas Synagogue (Czech: Pinkasova synagoga) in Prague, Czech Republic was built in about 1535 by Aaron Meshullam Horowitz between his house and the Old Jewish Cemetery. Initially it was a private synagogue of the Horowitz family.[1] Later it was made public and named after Pinkas, rabbi of Prague and grandson of Aaron Horowitz.

Names of the Holocaust victims from Czech lands on the synagogue's inner wall

Currently it is also a memorial of the victims of the Holocaust: its walls are covered with about 77,000 names of perished Bohemian-Moravian Jews. The memorial constitutes part of the Jewish Museum in Prague.[1]
