Pinangwan is a town located in the Mewat district of Haryana.
Geography
Pinangwan is located at 27.90°N, 77.10°E in the National Capital Region of Delhi (NCR). The town falls on southern border of Haryana, near to Alwar and Bharatpur Districts of Rajasthan.
Demography
The Pinangwan Census Town has a population of 12,612, of which 6,521 are males while 6,091 are females, according to the Census India 2011 report.[1]
History
Pinangwan is an old town. Qazi Dost Mohammad was the Qazi of Pinangwan during 17th century. He had one daughter Bibi Rabiya and two sons Deewan Idris Mohammad and Durwesh Mohammad. Bibi Rabiya was married to Qazi Abdul Baqi son of Qazi Ibrahim ibn Qazi Mahmood ibn Hākim-e Shariah Shareef Qazi-e Aazam ibn Qazi Ziauddin.[2]
During Partition of India
The Town and nearby villages witnessed large scale migration of Muslims[3] particularly Khanzada community towards Pakistan and Hindu Punjabis from there settled here in significant numbers.
Proposed Railway Connectivity
The Proposed Palwal- Alwar railway line had to pass thorough town though now a new Rail Line Connecting Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-Ferozepur Jhirka has been announced in Railway Budget 2013-14. The Survey has been completed and State government has agreed to share 50% cost of project.[4][5]
