Pina Kollars

Pina Kollars is an Austrian-born female folk rock singer. She is usually only known as Pina.

Born and bred in Vienna, Pina studied classical guitar at the city's Conservatorium. She contributed to Afro Celt Sound System's Volume 3: Further in Time album, singing on the track "Go On Through".[1] This recording was heard by Peter Gabriel and he released her first album, Quick Look, on his Real World Records label.[2]

Quick Look

Billboard called it an "extraordinary debut", praising her voice, "compelling" lyrics, and "gifted" playing.[3] AllMusic compared her to Stevie Nicks, praising her unique voice, and awarding it 3/5.[2] Les Inrockuptibles compared her to Nick Drake and Emmylou Harris, blending Celtic romanticism with centra-European classicism.[4] RootsWorld compared her to Melanie, praising her voice but questioning whether the lyrics meant anything.[5] Classic Rock found her a bit self-obsessed.[6]
