Pill station, Bristol

Pill railway station was a railway station near Bristol, England, on the Portishead Railway. It opened on 18 April 1867 and closed on 7 September 1964.[1] A goods yard just north of the station opened in 1912 and closed in 1963.[2]

Campaigners for the railway line to be reopened for passenger traffic have suggested the re-instatement of a passing loop here and the reopening of the station.[3] However the latest proposals suggest reopening the station, and most of the line, without a passing loop.[4]

The goods yard at the northern end of the station was the setting for the filming of the aftermath of the train decapitation scene from Bambi, an episode of the 1984 British sitcom The Young Ones.
