Physician Quality Reporting System
The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), formerly known as the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), was created in the United States in 2006 and sponsored by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This “pay-for-reporting” program provides incentive payments to physicians who report quality data; however, to date individual physician performance results are not publicly available for use by consumers. [1]
PQRS quality measures are defined by Measure Codes used by individual eligible professionals for PQRS reporting through qualified registries.[2]
