Phutureprimitive is the moniker of DJ/Producer Rain. According to the group, the music is best described as "dripping wet love drops of nasty mind melting sonic bliss".[1]
Phutureprimitive's first full-length album, "Sub Conscious" was released on Waveform Records on September 14, 2004. With a string of singles released in the interim on various labels, the birth of Native Harmonix (Rain’s own Record Label) brought the “Luminous” EP in 2010; exploring a lyrical based production with female vocalist Alyssa Palmer. His second full-length release, “Kinetik” was released in 2011.
Phutureprimitive toured with Shpongle throughout Spring and Fall 2012.
On April 9, 2013, Phutureprimitive released "Searching for Beauty in the Darkest Places, Pt. 1," which is the first half of his third album. Part 2 was scheduled for released in the Fall of 2013.
On October 9, 2013, Phutureprimitive embarked on his first national headlining tour, featuring the debut of Rain's collaboration with ritual dancer Caeli La. The "Dance Out Your Demons Tour" featured an audience interactive game, in which audience members write a "demon," fear, or something they want to transform or let go of, on a piece of duct tape. They are then instructed to stick it to the bottom of their shoe and "dance out their demons."
The tour is in support of the two-part album "Searching for Beauty in the Darkest Places," and the first official Phutureprimitive music video, "Lucid Dream," a collaboration with multimedia production team Vinton Depiction and Michael Miller, the animation/visual effects creator behind NBC's "Grimm."
On November 19, 2014, it was announced via social media that Phutureprimitive would, again, join Shpongle as a special guest during a 2015 tour. The tour is planned to start February 20th and end April 4th, 2015.
The group has a brand new live show that features a 3D projection mapped stage production where Caeli La - Ritual Dancer performs with video feedback effects, and visual music pieces exploring urban surrealism, visionary art, hyper graphic techno magic, and the redemptive power and beauty of nature.
