Philippe Charles d'Arenberg

Philippe Charles François, 3rd Duke of Arenberg (10 May 1663—25 August 1691) was also the 9th Duke of Aarschot. He married in Marie-Henriette del Carretto, Marquise of Grana and Savona, Italy, in 1684.

He became a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1685. Like his father, the 2nd Duke, he was Grand-Bailli and Capitaine-Général of Hainaut. The youngest general in the imperial army at the battle of Slankamen, (in modern-day Vojvodina, Serbia), he died from his wounds on August 19, 1691.[1]

He was succeeded by his son, Leopold Philippe d'Arenberg, as the 4th Duke of Arenberg.

His daughter Marie Anne married François Egon de La Tour d'Auvergne, nephew of Turenne. Marie Anne's daughter Marie Anne Henriette Leopoldine de la Tour d'Auvergne married Count Palatine John Christian of Sulzbach, the son of Theodore Eustace, Count Palatine of Sulzbach and his wife Eleonore of Hesse-Rothenburg.
