Petridish.org is a crowdfunding site for scientific research. It is aimed at supporting risky projects that might not qualify for government funding as well as projects that need costs covered that are not normally covered in grants. Costs for translating the research into educational papers or conservation projects are an example of costs not always covered in a grant.[1][2][3]
Petridish.org charges a percentage of funds collected; its website does not specify what that percentage is, and indicates the fees may change "from time to time".[4]
