Petete y Trapito is a 1975 Argentine animated film directed by Manuel García Ferré. The original movie starts with an introduction of Petete, a penguin. However, in most countries outside Argentine this introduction was removed and the title was shortened into "Trapito" as the penguin does not appear anymore.

Synopsis

During a stormy night, the starling Salapin is about to drown in a mud pool due to exhaustion. Next to the mud pool hangs Trapito, a scarecrow, on his frame. Trapito is a living scarecrow. He picks up Salapin and puts him in his inside pocket where it is dry and warm.

Next day, Salapin is recovered. He has a chat with Trapito and must admin the scarecrow is lonely and emotionally unstable. Salapin takes Trapito to the patriarch: a wise and old owl who knows everything about life, the forest and its inhabitants. The owl concludes Trapito has no imagination as he is a loner who never left his pole and does not know what's going on in the world. The owl sends Trapito and Salapin on an adventure travel. During the trip Trapito will make many friends, but also enemies and he will find himself in many happy, sad or dangerous situations.
