Peter Kocot

Peter Kocot has been representative to the state legislature of Massachusetts, United States since April, 2002. A member of the Democratic Party, he represents the First Hampshire district, which includes Montgomery, Hatfield, Southampton, Westhampton, and Northampton. His positions include support of gay marriage and opposition to education spending cuts. His son Luke Kocot currently attends Northampton High School and is planning to attend Curry College after graduation, and his son Jake Kocot is attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Kocot easily won reelection in 2006; his Republican opponent, Western New England College Economics professor John Andrulis (whom Kocot also faced in 2002 and 2004), polled at 18 percent.

Kocot is a member of three state committees:

  1. The committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture.
  2. The committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies
  3. The committee on Financial Services, which considers all matters concerning banks, banking institutions, credit unions, insurance companies insurance, including motor vehicle insurance small loans, and such other matters as may be referred.
