Perzonal War is a power metal/thrash metal band from Troisdorf, Germany which was founded in 1996 under the name Personal War.

History

The band was formed in 1996 under the name Personal War of singer and guitarist Matthias Room and drummer Martin Buchwalter. Together they recorded a first demo. A short time later, Martin's brother Frank (bass) and guitarist Sascha Kerschgens joined the band. After a second demo was recorded, the band appeared on the sampler Unheard of Rock Hard. Thus, the group reached an agreement in 1997 with Gernhart Records. Then they recorded their debut album and released it in early 1998 under the name of The Inside.

Over the next two years, the band changed their label and signed a contract with B.Mind Records and released in May 2000 the album Newtimechaos. In July 2002, the band, now named Perzonal War, signed with AFM Records for their next album, which was called Different But The Same. The album also had some solos by Rage guitarist Victor Smolski. They became an opening act for Nevermore. In early 2003, bassist Frank Buchwalter left the group. In June of the same year the band entered the studio again for the album Faces, which now Sven Krautkrämer held the post of the bassist. In the Fall, they played shows with Circle II Circle. They then played gigs with Metal Church, Overkill, and Symphorce.

In November 2005, they released When Times Turn Red Album. It was followed by a tour of Europe with Destruction, Candlemass, and Deathchain. In mid October 2006, the band played a concert in Bonn with Delirious to celebrate its tenth anniversary. This was also be the last appearance with bassist Sven Krautkramer, who left the band later that year. In April 2008, guitarist Sascha Kerschgens also left the band, but at that time an album was already recorded, Bloodline. Guest musicians on it were Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer of Destruction and Gus Chambers (ex-Grip Inc.). Two new people joined the band, bassist Björn Kluth and guitarist Daniel Düring, and then the album Bloodlines was released.[1]

Style

The band plays classic thrash metal, often compared with Metallica. The vocals vary from rough to clean.[2]
