P. clavigera is endemic to South Africa. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.[2]

P. leonina Purcell, 1899, Lion's Hill velvet worm

This species is endemic to South Africa; Its natural habitat is Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation; It is threatened by habitat loss.[3]
