History
Perion was formerly IncrediMail, an email company founded in 1999 by cousins Yaron and Ofer Adler. Soon after its founding, the company raised $3.3 million from private and institutional sources.[1] In January 2006, the company IPO'd on the NASDAQ[2] and on March 25, 2009, the company's board of directors approved a buyback of up to $1 million worth of shares.[3] In August 2011, the company acquired Smilebox for $32 million.[4][5]
In September 2011, the company changed its name to Perion, the Hebrew word for productivity. In November 2012, Perion purchased SweetPacks (aka SweetIM) for up to $41 million.[6] In January 2014, the company acquired Conduit’s ClientConnect business in an all-stock transaction valued $660 million.[7] In June 2014, Perion acquired Grow Mobile for $42 million in order to expand mobile promotions and Perion joined the TA-75 Index on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
In February 2015, Perion acquired MakeMeReach - a rapidly growing, Paris-based company and one of Europe's leading social media advertising platforms. MakeMeReach's AdsOptim technology enables mobile app developers to efficiently and effectively scale their advertising campaigns on social media, with a specific focus on optimizing mobile ad campaigns. MakeMeReach is a Facebook Preferred Marketing Developer (PMD) and Twitter Marketing Platform Partner (MPP). The acquisition of MakeMeReach has enabled GrowMobile by Perion to expand its position as the industry’s most complete and comprehensive automated mobile marketing platform.[8]
