Percy Quirke

Percival Hillam Quirke (29 July 1898 25 March 1972) was an Australian politician.

A farmer and soldier prior to entering politics, Quirke unsuccessfully contested the federal 1938 Wakefield by-election as an independent. However, his preferences were enough to deliver the normally conservative seat to Labor challenger Sydney McHugh. He later won the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Stanley, serving from 1941 to 1956 as a Labor member, before leaving the Labor Party and representing the Electoral district of Burra from 1956 to 1968, first as an independent then as a Liberal and Country League member.[1]

Quirke served as the minister for Irrigation, Lands, and Repatriation from 1963 to 1965 under the Playford government.[2]
