Pedro Miguel Marques da Costa Filipe (born 14 December 1980 in Torres Novas), known as Pepa, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a forward.

Career

A youth product of S.L. Benfica, which made his professional debut for the first team on 23 January 1999, aged 18, also scoring his first goal.[1] After that, he was hailed as promiss and spent the next year in the reserve team. In March 2000, he went on loan for Lierse in Belgium,[2] having difficulty adjust to the language.[3]

In 2002, he terminated his contract with Benfica, than ran for a further four years and signed with Varzim, following Jorge Ribeiro and Rui Baião, a decision he later claimed as the worst mistake in his life.[4]

He ended his career prematurely in 2006, aged 26, due to several knee injuries.[5][6]
