Route description

PA 307 begins at an "Y" intersection with Pennsylvania Route 435 in Covington Township. In the village of Fells Corners, PA 307 intersects Pennsylvania Route 502. Northeast of PA 502, PA 307 interchanges with Interstate 380 at exit 20. At Quinlan Corners in Spring Brook, PA 307 intersects Pennsylvania Route 690. PA 307 passes west of Coon Hill and north of Lake Scranton as the Scranton - Poconos Highway. In the city of Scranton, PA 307 passes under Interstate 81 but I-81 south has access to PA 307. PA 307 uses Meadow Avenue then River Street as a route to I-81.

In downtown Scranton, PA 307 is called Moosic Street and then Front Street. In the central section of Scranton, PA 307 begins a concurrency with U.S. Route 11. Then US 11/PA 307 have an interchange with the northern terminus of the Central Scranton Expressway. Northeast of Central Scranton Expressway, US 11/PA 307 cross Roaring Brook and then three pairs of railroad tracks on the Spruce Street Bridge. In the northern section of Scranton, US 11/PA 307 pass near the University of Scranton and become Jefferson Avenue, then they turn to the north to become Mulberry Street. Then US 11/PA 307 begin a freeway called the North Scranton Expressway. The first exit is to Province Road and 7th Street and access to Memorial Stadium. The next exit is to Main Avenue and Euclid Avenue. On the following exit, PA 307 exits the North Scranton Expressway and becomes Keyser Avenue. Then PA 307 leaves Keyser Avenue and becomes Morgan Highway. In South Abington Township, PA 307 passes under Interstate 476 (Pennsylvania Turnpike). PA 307 passes west of Summit Lake and enters the borough of Clarks Summit. In Glenburn Township and Newton Township, PA 307 becomes Winola Road, Airport Drive, and Roosevelt Highway.

PA 307 enters Wyoming County as Roosevelt Highway. PA 307 also goes around Lake Winola. PA 307 terminates (ends) at an intersection with Pennsylvania Route 92.[2]

Old Alignment in Scranton and Dunmore

Prior to 1989, PA 307 followed an older alignment bypassing Downtown Scranton. On Moosic Street, just north of I-81, PA 307 turned right on Harrison Avenue, starting a concurrency with US 11. Together they crossed the Harrison Avenue bridge and continued about a mile to Myrtle Street. PA 307 and US 11 turned right on Myrtle for one block then left on Wheeler Avenue. After entering the Borough of Dunmore and crossing the old Erie Railroad tracks, the pair turned left on Cherry Street then bore right onto South Blakely Street, entering Downtown Dunmore. They turned left onto Green Ridge Street, re-entering Scranton in the Green Ridge section of the city. At the end of Green Ridge Street at North Scranton Junior High School, they turned right onto Main Avenue entering the Providence section of the city. After a half mile, they turned left onto West Market Street. PA 307 left US 11 by turning left onto Keyser Avenue, passing under the North Scranton Expressway, and turning right onto the Morgan Highway, re-entering its current alignment.
