Penal Code of Portugal

‘The current Penal Code of Portugal (Código Penal Português) was promulgated in 1982 after the adoption of the Portuguese Constitution in 1976.[1] that ended military rule (since 1926 after the 28 May 1926 coup d'état) and restored democratic laws in Portugal. Prior to 1982, the last criminal laws were in place under the First Portuguese Republic.

The Penal Code was also applied to Macau until the adoption of the Penal Code of Macau in 1996.
