Pen Mar Park

Pen Mar Park is a scenic area located on High Rock Road on the Mason-Dixon line in Washington County, Maryland.[1] In 1877, the site was opened as an amusement park by the Western Maryland Railroad. When it was dismantled in 1943 the park contained a roller coaster, carousel, miniature train and railroad station, dining hall to seat 450 people, and a dance pavilion.

The park was official reopened 37 years later, in 1980, when a group of citizens from both Pennsylvania and Maryland raised funds to build a multipurpose, public pavilion at the site.[2] Today, attractions include recreation areas in the park and High Rock Summit, which at an altitude of 1800 feet, provides an outlook from the top of the Quirauk Mountains.[3]
