Pedakakani is a village in Pedakakani mandal, located in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is also the mandal headquarter, located 7 km towards north of district headquarters Guntur.[3][4]

History

Sages worshiped Lord Shiva who killed demons to protect people of this region from demons. Upon the request from the local people, shiva manifested in the form of linga in the Shiva temple.[5]

Demographics

As of 2011 Census of India, Kolakaluru had a population of 23,201. The total population constitute, 11,315 males and 11,886 females —a sex ratio of 1051 females per 1000 males. 2,517 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 1,285 are boys and 1,232 are girls —a ratio of 959 per 1000. The average literacy rate stands at 70.05% with 14,489 literates, significantly higher than the state average of 67.41%.[2][6]

Transport

Pedakakani Halt is the railway station located in the village, that lies on the Vijayawada-Guntur section of Vijayawada-Guntakal line. It is under the administration of Guntur railway division of South Central Railway zone.[7]
