Peace at Last is the third album from Glasgow-based pop group The Blue Nile, released in 1996 (see 1996 in music) via Warner Bros. Records.

Background

The Blue Nile's follow-up to 1989's Hats was a considerable musical departure. Unlike the prior two albums, which featured electronic instrumentation almost exclusively, the new record was primarily driven by Paul Buchanan's acoustic guitar. Even a gospel choir made a brief appearance on the lead single, "Happiness". Despite being on a major label, Peace at Last sold poorly, and critical reaction to it was mixed. However, the album does include the heartbreaking song "Family Life" which many Blue Nile aficionados consider to be among their greatest tracks.

Following the reissue of their first two albums in 2012 as 2-CD deluxe editions, Peace at Last was also reissued in a similar 2-CD version on 3 March 2014.
