Pavel Smirnov (Russian: Павел Смирнов; born 14 April 1982) is a Russian chess Grandmaster (2003).

In 2004 he reached the 4th round of the FIDE World Chess Championship, but lost to Teimour Radjabov. In the same year he came first in the Tigran Petrosian Memorial in Yerevan.[1] In 2007 he won the Russian Team Chess Championship[2] and tied for 3rd–9th with Dmitry Svetushkin, Vladimir Malakhov, Evgeny Vorobiov, Murtas Kazhgaleyev, Vladimir Dobrov and Aleksej Aleksandrov in the 3rd Moscow Open tournament.[3] In 2010 he tied for 1st–4th with Sergei Yudin, Semen Dvoirys and Sergei Iskusnyh at Pavlodar.[4]
