Paulo Marcel Pereira Merabet (born 22 February 1979 in Belém), commonly known as Roma, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward.

Career

Paulo Marcel Pereira Merabet, or simply, Roma, was a striker who began his career in rowing, but revealed in what is considered the basic categories of Flamengo and has received its name from a resemblance in style and also playing with the little guy Romário. With only 1.60 m the player played for the team Gávea as a professional, between the years 2000 and 2003, having made over 100 matches and 23 goals for the club.

Was marked, however, a missed penalty by the race penalty that decided the Copa Mercosur in 2001, Fla. where he was defeated by San Lorenzo of Argentina, and lost the chance to win the competition for the second time.

After leaving Fla, the player was abroad. Spent by Saudi Arabia and Korea before arriving in Europe, where he worked at Lokeren, Belgium. Then he had the passage Pumas, Mexico, and finally defended the colors of Belenenses, Portugal. Already in 2008, back to Brazil, Rome had a meteoric passage through the traditional Santa Cruz de Pernambuco, and later played the State Championship by Ituiutaba club in Minas Gerais. In 2009, Rome was desired by some Brazilian clubs of the north and northeast, but chose to return to Rio de Janeiro and Macae defend the Carioca championship in 2009. Experience that did not work.
