Paul D. Ginsberg

Paul D. Ginsberg is Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer of Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm based in Atlanta, Georgia with over $6.0 billion in equity capital under management. Roark has acquired 29 multi-unit/franchise businesses that generate more than $15 billion in system revenues from over 15,000 locations located in 50 states and 68 countries. Roark's portfolio companies include Carvel, Cinnabon, Arby's, Carl's Jr., Hardees, Millers Ale House, Massage Envy, PetValu, among others. Ginsberg formerly was a senior partner, co-head of the Global mergers & acquisitions group and a member of the Management Committee of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP,[1] a prestigious international law firm based in New York. Ginsberg was at Paul, Weiss for twenty-six years.

Biography

Ginsberg was born in 1962 in Jackson Heights, Queens and is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School (1980), Union College (1984, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and the University of Chicago Law School (1987). He had spent his entire legal career at Paul, Weiss, beginning in the fall of 1987. He is a member of The Visiting Committee of the University of Chicago Law School and the President's Council of Union College.

Career

As a lawyer, Ginsberg had been internationally recognized for mergers & acquisitions and private equity by Chambers USA, Legal 500, IFLR 1000, SuperLawyers and Best Lawyers in America. He was named a 2008 "Dealmaker of the Year" by The American Lawyer magazine[2] for his role in the acquisition by Triarc Companies, Inc. of Wendy's International, Inc. and "Dealmaker of the Week" (October 23, 2009) for his role in the acquisition of First Republic Bank.
