Pattoki (Urdu: پتّوكى), is a town in the Kasur District of the Punjab province of Pakistan.[1] It is the headquarters of Pattoki Tehsil, an administrative subdivision of the district, and is located at 31°1'0N 73°50'60E with an altitude of 186 metres (613 feet).[2] Its only one city in Pakistan that have flower market mainly for roses.The city is known as "The City of Flowers".
Location
It lies on the N-5 about 80 kilometres (50 mi) away from Lahore the capital of Punjab Province. It is an important station between Okara district and Lahore.
History
Pattoki is named after a caste of the Hindus called Pattwaan. It was a Hindu-Sikh dominated town, famous for its cotton production and was called The Cotton Queen.[3] After the independence of Pakistan the cotton industry became weak. This city is still a big trade centre for a number of villages attached to it. The Changa Manga forest is also 10 kilometres away from Pattoki. Ghehlan nurseries are also 1 kilometre away from Pattoki. Pattoki green market is famous all over the Punjab. Pattoki was declared as "Queen of Flowers" by Queen Elizabeth because of the largest Flower Market in the region. People used to export flowers to all over the world.

Food street
There are many food streets in Pattoki but the most famous ones are on Quaid-e-Azam & Allama Iqbal roads. There are also many food shops and sweets and bakers shops. The famous ones are Nawab sweets and bakers, The Best sweets and bakers and Raisham sweets. The most frequented shop for Shawarma and Paratha Roll is Karachi Pratha roll and shawarma as it has a large variety of shawrama like

There are also local Fast Food restaurants including Pizza point, Lahori murgh house etc.
There is another food street in Abbas road Pattoki but the shops there are only set-up once a year on the Urs of "Hazrat Abass Ali Shah" from 6 September to 15 September.

Present situation
Pattoki was raised to the status of Tehsil in early 1990s. Before it most of the official works were carried in Chunian. The total population of Pattoki, including urban and rural areas is approximately 6.34 lakh (634,000). However it is handicapped in so many sectors i.e. education, health and other civic facilities. The underground water of pattoki is not good for drinking but government provided pure water supply for pattoki people from Halla at a distance of 20 km away. Most of the area is irrigated by canal water because sub soil water is saline and unfit for agriculture. In the present era, it has become an industrial hub, there are approximately 200 industrial units and these are established at G.T Road, with companies such as Aqua Blue, Rafhan Bestfoods, Ashraf Cotton Industry, Chowk Rehmani, Pattoki Sugar Mills, Wall's ice cream, Martin Dow, Haleeb, Al_imran pharmacy, Century Paper & Board Mills and DIN Textile mill.
