Patriot Rail Corporation is a holding company for a number of shortline railroads across the United States, including one contract operation in North Carolina. The company was started in 2006 by RailAmerica co-founders Gary Marino and John Marino and is headquartered at Jacksonville, Florida.[1] In January, 2011, Patriot Rail purchased the railroads of the Weyerhaeuser Company which effectively doubled the number of Patriot Rail holdings.[2]
